Jacuzzi

Jacuzzi, a Brand name that has become synonymous with hot tubs and spas introduced the first outdoor Jacuzzi spa in 1970. Since that introduction, manufacturers have sought to redesign and enhance the technology behind what began as a relatively simple idea; a large tub that propelled heated water jets for the enjoyment of consumers. As years passed, the spas became more durable, required less maintenance and became more affordable. What else could a homeowner want?

Shifting over from the obvious, manufacturers employed designers to turn the tubs and spas into a complete sensory experience. Variable temperatures were added, pump horsepower was adjusted, jets varied in intensity and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, LED lights known as chromatherapy, audio systems, ergonomic seating, remote controls…and the list goes on.

Jacuzzi Family History

In 1956, the Jacuzzi brothers created a portable hydrotherapy pump (J-300) that would turn any normal bath into a hydro-therapeutic spa. This idea started a niche market, which eventually led to Jacuzzi becoming a household name.

In 1968, Roy Jacuzzi, took the portable hydrotherapy pump to the next level when he created the world’s first integrated whirlpool bath. Called the “Roman,” Roy Jacuzzi incorporated therapy jets into the sides of the tub, which produced a 50/50 air-to-water ratio; the same 50/50 ratio that Jacuzzi uses today. Thanks to Roy, Jacuzzi created a new industry.

In 1970, Jacuzzi built larger units incorporating heating and filtration systems, to accommodate groups of people. This was the first spa available to homeowners.

The 1980s saw an expansion of the home spa movement as Jacuzzi expanded their line to include models that could be installed indoors or out; and their model configurations enabled their spas to be used as hot tubs, whirlpool baths or both.

Today, although Jacuzzi still uses the same 50/50 air-to-water ratio, the jet technology has developed to include jets designed to massage, swirl, and spiral, deliver large volumes of water and target specific pressure points. All of which is fully adjustable as needed.

Jacuzzi is recognized globally for its jetted whirlpool baths and spas; and the Jacuzzi name represents efficiency, durability, innovation, comfort and unparalleled design. After 50 years, Jacuzzi’s patented PowerPro jet system continues to rejuvenate the world over.
