Bidets

A bidet is defined as "a low-mounted plumbing fixture or type of sink intended for washing the external genitalia and the anus." A bidet is a porcelain fixture with both a supply of hot and cold water and it is very similar in appearance to a toilet bowl. A bidet can often be found next to a toilet in a bathroom and it is made up of a washing basin, a sprayer and a hot and cold faucet.

The word "bidet" is French and it stands for pony as in old French bider means to trot and one rides or bestrides a pony in a similar fashion as a woman who uses a bidet. Bidets were first created around 1710 and by 1900 the bidet was comparable to a chamber pot and due to improvements in plumbing it went from being a piece of furniture in the bedroom to being used in the bathroom. Today a bidet would be an antique bidet but in 1960 the electronic bidet as well as the portable bidet and adaptable bidets came into existence. The electronic bidet connects to a toilet and is best for small bathrooms where there is not room fro both a toilet and bidet combo.

The proper use of bidets is to wash and properly cleanse the external vulvus as well as the perineum and the anus. Bidets are also beneficial for cleaning other parts of the body as well such as the feet. Bidets look very much like toilets but are more comparable in their purpose to either bathtubs or washbasins. Bidets have commonly been used over the years to bathe infants. A bidet seat is very comfortable for most women and is particularly useful for people who have issues with mobility and find it difficult to get in and out of the bathtub or shower or people who are afraid that they might slip and fall in the shower. For these individuals bidets are very useful fro maintaining personal hygiene.

Many people who do not know what bidets are wrongly get them mixed up withy a toilet, a urinal or even think they resemble a water fountain. Ask toilet bidet suppliers and they will tell you that bidets are meant to be used after a woman has used the toilet. The bidet is meant for washing the genital area after the fact. The proper way to sit on a bidet is to face the tap and nozzle in order to carefully clean the genitalia with ones hands or to place your back to the tap and wall in order to carefully wash the anus.
